Running a service

How to work ahead of the preacher, follow an unexpected reference, and get a verse off the screen fast.

The two labels that matter

Under the buttons are two facts:

  • PREGĂTIT / READY — what you have selected
  • PE ECRAN / ON SCREEN — what the congregation can see, or ecran liber when the projector is free

They are deliberately separate. Selecting a verse never changes what is on the screen; only Enter or the PROJECT button does. So you can line up the next reading while the current verse stays up.

Following the reading

Once a verse is projected, the passage panel shows the chapter around it. If the preacher carries on into the next verse, press — it moves and re-projects in one keystroke. goes back.

PgDn and PgUp move a whole chapter at a time.

Verse 36 of a chapter followed by rolls into the next chapter, so you can follow a continuous reading without touching the book list.

An unexpected reference

Type it. 1 cor 13 4, ps 23, ioan3 16, mt 3,22 — the search box is forgiving about spacing and punctuation, takes either language, and accepts the standard abbreviations as well as the four-letter codes.

If you only remember the words, type those instead. When what you type is not a reference, it searches the verse text and lists what it finds.

Double-tap to project

In the passage panel, double-tapping a verse selects and projects it. That is the fastest single gesture in the app: you see the words first, then they go up.

The number pads on the left deliberately do not do this. That block is for choosing, and a stray second tap there must never reach the projector.

Getting it off screen

Esc. Always. Whatever else is happening, whatever has focus.

The history strip

Recently projected verses sit along the bottom. Tapping one brings it back — useful when the preacher returns to their text after an illustration.

A quiet habit worth having

Before the service, project one verse and press Esc. It takes three seconds and proves the projector, the screen choice and the translations are all working while there is still time to fix them.
