Getting started

From opening ScriptureCaster for the first time to putting a verse on the projector, in about five minutes.

Before you start

You need a Windows PC with a second screen attached — the projector. A touch monitor is ideal, but everything works with a mouse and keyboard.

1. Open it

Run ScriptureCaster.exe. The window opens maximised on your main screen. Nothing appears on the projector yet — that is deliberate. The projector belongs to whatever else is on it until you project a verse.

2. Check the screens

Press F5 to re-detect screens, and look at the strip under the buttons. It tells you which screen the app would use if you projected now.

If the app can only see one screen, it says so. Windows may not have extended the desktop yet — press Win+P and choose Extend.

3. Pick a verse

Three taps:

  1. CARTE / BOOK — tap the book. All 66 are on screen as four-letter codes, Old Testament above, New Testament below.
  2. CAPITOL / CHAPTER — tap the chapter.
  3. VERSET / VERSE — tap the verse.

The passage panel on the right fills with the whole chapter, the verse you picked boxed in the middle so you can see what comes before and after.

Faster, if you know the reference: type mat 3 16 in the search box and press Enter. That projects it immediately.

4. Project it

Press the big PROIECTEAZĂ / PROJECT button, or Enter.

The verse appears on the projector. The strip now shows two different things: PREGĂTIT / READY (what you have selected) and PE ECRAN / ON SCREEN (what the congregation is looking at). They are often different, and that is the point — you can line up the next verse while the current one stays up.

5. Take it off

Press Esc. The projector goes back to whatever was there before.

Esc always does this, whatever else is happening. It is the panic key.

6. Set your two translations

The two dropdowns at the top of the passage panel choose what gets projected: the top line and the bottom line. The ⇅ button between them swaps the order — useful when a visiting speaker preaches in English for twenty minutes and Romanian goes back on top afterwards.

Set the bottom one to — fără a doua linie — to project a single language.
